This fast, known as Sakat Chauth, is observed in hopes that children will live long and prosper. Sakat Chauth is observed annually on the Chaturthi of Magha Krishna Paksha according to the Hindu calendar. On this day, there is a custom of fasting. It is also known as Sankashti Chaturthi, Tilkut, and Magh Chaturthi in addition to Sakat Chauth. On the day of Sakat Chauth, it is believed that worshiping Lord Shri Ganesh puts an end to all problems. The child resolves all of the issues that arise in their life. In order to please Mother Parvati, Mother Parvati observed the fast of Sakat Chauth in order to meet Lord Shankar and Kartikeya.
